There are lots of ways to help lonely or socially isolated elderly people in our community. The best way to reduce health inequalities in older age is to reduce the inequalities in society across the life course.

Won Connect, is a social enterprise with aims to tackle social isolation through Technology and digital media. We deliver a variety of programmes to empower older and socially isolated people in Greater Glasgow with companionship and information in using technology independently, confidently and safely, and reducing loneliness – allowing them to live independently, be more employable and connect with others. More importantly, raise awareness of online fraud.

We have the backing of Kelvin College Glasgow, Royal Bank of Scotland, Job and Business Glasgow, The National Lottery, Glasgow Social enterprise Network, Social Enterprise UK, and several housing associations and community centres across Glasgow

We are run by a team of 10 volunteers, including 3 directors, dedicated to fulfilling our aim.

We raise money to support these activities through donations, by providing digital consulting service to other businesses, community centres, and businesses to run the IT classes, and through our e-commerce site.

As our business is developing, Won Connect is looking to recruit a team of volunteers and like-minded individuals.

This is a voluntary position with a view to becoming a part or full-time salaried position.

We offer a platform for individuals to express and develop their skills and knowledge. Providing essential work experience to expand their CV. Since volunteering with us some of our talented and enthusiastic volunteers have gone on to secure amazing positions in companies such as BBC, Premium Houseware and other businesses in Glasgow. Some also gain the confidence to become freelance developers, in digital marketing and so on.

Marketing and Communications Volunteer

The role is responsible for ensuring innovative and effective communication with our target market, stakeholders and the general public. Promote and support our organisation internally and externally. Fresh, high quality communication is critical to successfully working with people, securing the necessary resources for our work and in influencing decision makers at the highest level in local council, business and the media.

This role reports to the Directors and will work closely with the CEO.

Key Objectives

  1. To ensure that all marketing communication materials are created to a high quality and delivered effectively to the identified target audiences.
  2. To take leadership in developing new and innovative ways to communicate with the business’s beneficiaries, stakeholders and the general public.
  3. To support events and meetings designed to raise profile and generate funding and income.
  4. Report on activities, budget and the results and impacts of the campaigns.


Digital Marketing Volunteer

You will work alongside the Marketing and Communication officer and Operation Manager and be responsible for all marketing task related and promote the business. Purpose of this role is to generate leads across all solutions and services of the business by creating and implementing a digital, email and offline marketing strategy.

This role reports to the Directors and will work closely with the CEO.

Key Objectives

  1. Manage Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google account and pay-per-click ads. Manage content for social media uploading. Manage blogs/company updates
  2. Add company profiles on directories. Promote company vision and ethos. SEO- Analyse aim to organically rank for them
  3. Rebrand and manage all websites. Manage marketing budget to get the best results
  4. Support the delivery of the digital marketing activity to achieve the Social Enterprise income targets and raise awareness of the Won Connect programmes in the communities it serves


Operation Manager Volunteer

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, your primary responsibility will be to take care of the business day to day operations. Make connection with key partners, organisations, lead the teams, and drive sales internally. We need someone who builds trust through competence and brings initiative and tenacity to everything they do. Research on new businesses that will generate more revenue for the social enterprise. Conduct outbound calls, and quality business leads. Build and manage relationships with prospective clients. Create and maintain an excellent customer service experience

Key Objectives

  1. Building strong and profitable relationships with customers & the decision-making influencers
  2. To engage with sheltered housings, Housing Associations, community centres, local authorities, organisations and businesses to discuss prospect business and promote our business.
  3. Demonstrable organisational, communication & interpersonal skills including great business writing and verbal skills.
  4. Ability to overcome objections and deal effectively with rejection.

ICT Tutor Assistant Volunteer

The ICT Assistant will be acting as the first point of contact for all ICT queries, providing attendees with training and ICT support. In this role, you will be working to ensure attendees have a well-functioning computer environment, working closely with the IT manager and other IT team members. As part of Won Connect Training we are seeking tutors to support our very busy Adult Education team.

We are looking for tutors to teach part-time daytime and /or evening classes to adults. There is also an option to teach at our Workshops, which run through the year. We are looking for an individual with a good personality and a good sense of humour. Training will be given.

Key Objectives

  1. Plan and implement an ambitious curriculum which is sequenced towards clear end points at each key stage
  2. To plan and teach clear, high quality lessons to support attendees to make good or outstanding progress and to embed key concepts in their long term memory
  3. To maintain a stimulating, engaging and safe learning environment that allows adults to focus on learning and socialise.


Board Director Volunteer

Are you interested in tackling social isolation and IT, a strategic thinker, able to analyse complex information, and able to contribute to rational decision making?  Do you want to join the Board of a forward-thinking Social Enterprise with high standards and achievements?

Our directors work as a team. We seek directors who can contribute their expertise, thoughts and opinions. Directors are expected to understand our aims and vision and to participate in providing high standards of governance and strategic direction. Further information can be providing.

Key Objectives

  1. We are an organisation that seeks a strong governing board, to ensure we can continue making a positive difference to the lives of the individuals we support.
  2. Do you have any experience in business development, Information Technology or community-led project?


Admin Volunteer

Your role will be to provide administrative services. This will include external and internal communication, data entry and scheduling appointments.

You will work closely with the CEO.

Key Objectives

  1. Word processing. Dealing with email and telephone enquiries. Handling external and internal communication
  2. Data entry, organising, arranging and coordinating meetings. Sorting and distributing incoming and outgoing post. Procuring office supplies.
  3. Demonstrable organisational, communication & interpersonal skills including great business writing and verbal skills.
  4. Good oral and written communication, Good IT skills, Good organisational skills



We expect you to commit a minimum of 5 hours per week, however this role is fully flexible.

We are based in the Royal Bank of Scotland building in central Glasgow, where you are welcome to come and work, or you can work from home (to be discussed during the interview)
